As we are going to continue our 50 on 50 whiskey series, we are enjoying a bottle from the great state of Alaska. We might only be early in our series but we have certainly enjoyed our second entry into this series. When you think of Alaska, you think of beautiful wildlife scenery, Alaskan King Crab and know you better think of Alaska Outlaw Whiskey. We had an old buddy join us because he learned we had a new whiskey in the studio and he was thirsty.. Where did this whiskey rank? What is our take on it? Well listen to this podcast and find out more.. Train.. Train…
When we started our trek of 50 on 50, we knew we might have some problems trying to find whiskey from each state but in our opinion, every problem gives us an opportunity for a drinking solution. Well in this case, we lucked out and found a way to order it online and have it delivered via FedEx.. That little experience was shared during our podcast but going to give that teaser in this blog.
So while surfing the internet, we not only found an available Alaska whiskey that we could purchase online but found one that could be delivered to Indiana (which has some strange and awkward blue laws at times). Our blue laws is a completely different rant for another time but for now, we had the opportunity to purchase this bottle of Alaska Outlaw Whiskey. You can’t see it from the picture but the bottle itself is a very small 375 ML bottle.. I am creative when I take pictures so I can make something that looks small appear to be much bigger that goes for whiskey, ahhhhhhhhhhh, let’s just leave it at whiskey bottles.
Well when the bottle was delivered, you would have thought this was a 1500 ML bottle because the box was 5 times the size of the bottle both height and width. I thought I had struck the best alcohol deal ever because not only do I got the wife who has a Mendoza line on the cost of the whiskey’s that are purchased but apparently size does matter when it comes to those purchases. She saw the delivery and wanted to see how big of a bottle that we got for our podcast. Trust me when I say, no whiskey is left behind in our drinking experience and we ensure that good or bad whiskey is drank just the same. However once I pulled this whiskey out of the box, I almost felt like I had some explaining to do on this purchase. Because the cost of the bottle was almost as expensive as the cost of delivery of the bottle to the great state of Indiana. Whiskey is fine in my eyes, however I had to do some creative marketing spin to explain why this was such a great deal.
Now I am going to leave a lot more of that story in the podcast for you to enjoy. Both of our hosts got to enjoy this whiskey from Alaska and even got to enjoy one of our past guests who just happened to be in the studio. He must have some whiskey-radar because he has a keen sense to show up at the right time when a new bottle of whiskey is opened. Whiskey-Radar, yes it is a real thing…
