You ever have one of those days when you just feel like picking on your buddy, spouse or in this case your co-host? If you have never heard Eric fired up over stupid comments, well this is certainly the podcast for you.. Apparently Rob stepped up his annoyance on this podcast and it really showed as we brought in our first wheat to the whiskey line up. While we gave our review, you can certainly side with Eric on this podcast. Tune in and find out.. Train.. Train..
As we do with every episode, we bring a bottle onto the rails and do our best to give our feedback on the whiskey. Well for this bottle, we took the suggestion from our 3x guest, Skip on how great this whiskey is and how it is a staple of his home bar. Skip knows his whiskey and we had to take his suggestion on trying it for our 40th podcast.
You will hear our feedback on the whiskey during the podcast but we want to give a little bit of a post recording story on the bottle of whiskey. Well our good buddy Skip was having a surprise birthday party later in the evening, so we decided to get him a bottle of whiskey and then give him the bottle of Bernheim since we only had enough to go through our testing. Well that night, he got enough whiskey and bourbon to start his own bar but of course he got two bottles from the hosts of Whiskey On The Rails.
The problem with this story, when you give a man a bottle of whiskey he will enjoy every drop of it because that is just common logic. However if you leave an opened bottle out with a bunch of whiskey drinkers, odds are that bottle won’t be too full when you get it home. Well that was the case the next day when skip shook off his drinking memories and started going through his gifts. He noticed that he got a bottle of Bernheim (and knew who gave it to him) however when we got the text the day he mentioned that the bottle might have been defective because there was a lot of whiskey missing in the bottle.. Only an 1/8th of the bottle was left, ooooops.. Must have been the bottle.. We don’t know and nobody else really knows what happened to it and/or who might have drank it. The mystery will never be truly answered….
Moral of the story, if an opened bottle of whiskey is left at a party full of whiskey drinkers, I guess you gotta first blame the hosts of a whiskey podcast. We seem like the logical suspects..
As always, we gotta thank our sponsors because without them we would be two guys with nothing to drink, nothing to drink out of and more importantly nothing to keep our drinks cold.
