Diesel Saved Jethro T Boots

When you have two bottles of whiskey and not sure which to drink for a podcast, it is always great to let somebody else decide on what you are drinking.  Well we did that with this week’s podcast, thanks to our viewers on our Hotel Tango Periscope Line.   They choose some Jethro T Boots and we broke out our last Diesel cigar from Cigars International.   This week we are smoking a Diesel Unlimited Maduro in an effort to help save the whiskey drinking day!!!   What does that mean for our whiskey review?    What is going to happen when you leave award nominee Eric in recharge of the Rails for a week?  Well check out the podcast and find out more..  Train..  Train..

Well this week, we aren’t totally sure what we are going to discuss with this week’s podcast recording.   I think the simplest discussion point is going to be, how we even decided on a whiskey to drink for the last week of Diesel cigars.    Suggestions are great for both Eric and Rob when it comes to what we are drinking, heck donated bottles move you forward in line for review.    So both bottles that we received were donated so they were moved to the front of the line and that started our quandary on which one we were going to drink.

Here is usually our process when it comes to our whiskey reviews.  We take some notes from the company who produced the whiskey, we read a couple of reviews and ask a few of our local drinkers what they think of the whiskey’s.   That is the usual thought process on almost every whiskey we review, however with this Jethro T Boots, there is no company information..  There is no review information..   There isn’t really even any pictures of it on that internet thing..   So we almost feel that we found a made up bottle of whiskey that was left over from the days of ummmm errrrrrrrr ahhhhhh..  Maybe the island of misfit whiskey left this bottle with our friend so he could deliver it to the hosts for their review.  Yeah, lets go with that one because nobody seems to have ever tried this whiskey and decided to write / talk about it..    So is that winning??

Either way, we did take the whiskey of choice and paired it up with our Diesel cigar and lets face it.  The title of the podcast told the story, the Diesel Unlimited Maduro really saved the day in our podcast review.   The flavor of the cigar really helped our taste palette in regards to the after taste of that Jethro T Boots..   One of the hosts might have made the comment, this whiskey tasted like Jack Daniels but lets give it a fair shake..  Jack doesn’t taste that bad at all and considering one of the hosts already finished a bottle of it while a on vacation..  I consider that statement null and void.

On a side note, stay tuned for our next podcast where we are going to give you an introduction to our newest sponsor of Whiskey On The Rails.  Bugatti Cigars are going to be a great additional to the rails with their cigars.    They have been extremely great at giving us some samples to get used to their flavors and giving us plenty of opportunities to smoke their products.   Now here is even the better line for these cigars, you can purchase them all at Cigars International.   What a winning combination.

Now, we have said it before and we will keep saying it again.   We are so very greatly with the awesome line up of companies we are working with during this podcast.    We like to think of each of our sponsors / partners as part of our extended Whiskey On The Rails family.   When you get to pair up such great products, it is really fun to come out and record every week because we stand behind everything we talk about and enjoy each of the products we get to use during the show.      Even Eric and Rob get along during the podcast because of these great products and that right there is a miracle..

Uncle Bob Mishap Saved By A Diesel Rage

Whoever said that flavored whiskey is a good idea?   Yes, we have all had fireball and yes we admit after a certain amount that is a bad idea.   Well we topped it in this podcast.  Thanks to a suggestion on our Hotel Tango periscope line, we brought a root beer flavored whiskey on the rails.   Uncle Bob’s Root Beer Flavored Whiskey has both joined and officially departed Whiskey On The Rails.   We brought in Uncle Bob (not the real one but our buddy Bob) for the first time so he could try the whiskey and enjoy watched Rob and Eric smoking a Diesel Rage Cigar from Cigars International.   How did this experiment end?  Will check out the podcast and find out..  Train..  Train…

There are times when we do have friends who come in and join us for a drink while we are recording.   This time we had a few people (only Paul was mentioned) who came in and out of our recording area during this podcast.   It was sort of odd, we wanted to get all of their feedback of this week’s root beer flavor whiskey.   It is almost too painful to keep writing root beer flavored whiskey but gotta do it for this people..  Just gotta remember that..  Doing it for the good of the whiskey drinking community and those 22 somethings who are wanting another shot during their mid-night drinking adventure.

So after we got done recording, the three of us were bartending a charity event with a bunch of drinkers and people wanting to give money to the greater good of the community.  We decided we would introduce Uncle Bob’s whiskey to the people, of course giving those free samples to help get rid of this bottle of whiskey.   We learned something real quick.   There was a couple who was there first and got the skinny on the bottle of Uncle Bob’s and majorly choose to avoid any tasting of it but certainly enjoyed the faces of people who took a shot of it..  Some good..  Some bad..  Some root beer lovers who were looking for a chaser of beer, whiskey or a cold glass of water.

Now here is what we learned, if you have a group of ladies who were already doing shots with people, they are the perfect customers for this whiskey.    After doing a round of fireballs and cinnamon toast crunches, a shot of root beer whiskey was almost perfect for these ladies.   After they all took a round of shots, they immediately became the WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO people..   That means, they were turning into Ric Flair and became wooooo people because they enjoyed the shots..   Now if you take the time to listen to the podcast, you will learn that this whiskey wasn’t our cup of tea..   Even Uncle Bob didn’t overly enjoy Uncle Bob’s Root Beer Flavored Whiskey…

Start Spreading The News With Sinatra And An Diesel Unlimited

Always a great time to spread some cheer when your co-host has a birthday..  Well that birthday was a great time to give him an awesome bottle of Jack Daniels Sinatra Select, which of-course the other host was hoping that bottled would be shared.   If you wait long enough, dreams do come true and Sinatra has made its way onto the Rails..   We paired it up with an awesome Diesel Unlimited for our “First-Third” review from Cigars International..   So what happened?   Did we start spreading the news?   Anybody else from the rat-pack show up?   Well stay tuned for our podcast for all of these answers..  Train..  Train…

While we were recording, we started having a little bit of fun with our dueling video lines.   We do have our Hotel Tango periscope line up and running with our podcasts.   We don’t keep those videos out there but they are great ways to sync up with us during our live recordings for feedback and fun.   At the same time, we will fire up the Hotel Tango facebook live line during the recent recordings for our 1 or 2 minute of fun with our facebook followers..   What most people will hear during our podcasts is some of the interaction that we have had with those people on the lines but what rarely makes the recording (because we are usually paused or stopped) is a lot of the entertaining conversation we have back and forth.

We have learned the following..   We have about 20-30 static followers that immediately jump on the periscope line as soon as it fires up.    Granted that number jumps up and down when others get on the line but we have a dedicated group that always jumps online.   Of those dedicated followers, we have learned that most enjoy heckling Rob over Eric.    I guess Rob says some of the most obscure comments (even off line) to the point that Eric even has to say what???   However don’t think that Eric is left alone, all it takes is one of those moments where he can’t talk (which those usually hit the editing room floor) and boom…..  They are all over him.     He almost takes it as a challenge to see what the folks will say next but realistically neither of us can speak and love the joy of editing at times.

As we keep moving forward, we are really kicking around the idea of creating a new you-tube channel so you can see not only some of our un-edited podcast but those videos that sometimes never makes the audio.   We got some exciting changes happening in the next couple of months for new ways to enjoy us both during our podcast, during recordings and who knows maybe on the radio.    We got some lofty goals but at the end of the day, we enjoy drinking with our friends.   We hope to raise a glass on our journey and have a lot of fun.

Jim Beam Bottled In Bond With An Unholy Cocktail Diesel Cigar

When you have a cigar named “Unholy Cocktail” you really need to step up what you are drinking to make it a party.   Well for this week, we are breaking out some Jim Beam 100 proof Bottled In Bond whiskey for our review.     This whiskey certainly isn’t for the faint of heart and the mixture of Jim Beam and Diesel can’t certainly start your drinking day.    We certainly welcome you to enjoy this podcast but make sure you pour a strong drink and enjoy what Bottled In Bond and Unholy Cocktail can do for your day.   Train..  Train…

When we started this podcast about a year ago, we had a certain amount of goals we wanted to achieve in the first year.   We wanted to find some great whiskeys (and honestly some bad ones as well) and give our opinions on the best way to enjoy those whiskeys.   Our opinions have been fueled by rye whiskeys, sour mash whiskey, bottled in bond whiskeys, bourbons, scotches, whisky’s and general rail whiskeys.   We wanted to make sure we were covering all ends of the budget and trying to find spirits from around the world.

What we enjoyed while we were recording this podcast was our diversity when it has come to our reviews.    Simple logic, not everything is the same.    What I mean by that, we might try a $30 Bottled In Bond whiskey and compare it to a $8 Bottled In Bond whiskey and the results wouldn’t be cost driven.   Flavors and tastes, heat and spice and pure whiskey fuel is what keeps us on our toes and having a great conversation each and every week.   Personally, a couple of buddies sitting down drinking is what we both enjoy about this podcast.    What makes this episode a little better, we got to try another Jim Beam product..

Now who is to say we both agreed on the profiles of this whiskey?   Who is to say we didn’t have fun at the other hosts expense..   Who is to say, we didn’t have some great social media video captured during this recording..    Now you have read the teaser, stay tuned for the podcast coming out tomorrow.
